Mitrovica - - Already the winter season passed, but low temperatures are still present and occasionally vary from hot to cold, but how much this climate change affects people, especially youngsters.

Undoubtedly the parents are the ones who care most. "It's normal that climate and temperature change are causing problems mostly to children and elderly persons", Habib Gllogjani, one of the parents we met in pediatric center in Mitrovica, said Dr.Qenan Cabra, specialist pediatrician, says that children are not affected by climate and temperature change. “Climate or temperature change do not present any danger to children, but by temperature and season change different viruses appear affecting preschool children and those who have already started school “.  

Parents say that usually most affected are toddlers and three or four-year- old children, but the doctor indicates that it is normal the most affected are the youngsters because of their low immunity.  
"The time when the medical examinations are more frequent and numerous is the change of Fall-Winter and Spring season, the time when the appearance of viruses is intense” Dr.Qenani says. Complaints of parents are considerable; particularly when it comes to medical tests, which should be performed in Mitorvica hospital, then return to the pediatric ward for examination. 

Bahrije Avdiu, who had come with her children for a medical examination in pediatrics, was complaining because as she pointed out ' it is terrible thing to come to this ward in downtown when doctor says we should conduct urgent medical tests in the hospital, and with the findings to go back, but it s impossible to enter because of long queues ". 

“Pediatric ward is one of the most frequented wards with around 150 medical examination within 24 hours”,  Rrahim Merovci, head of this ward told M-Magazine. Except the lack of space in this ward, Merovci said the problems are numerous, starting from the distance between the hospital and pediatric ward, which is required services because the youngsters are being treated.

“The hospital is 1km far from here and all medical tests must be carried out in its laboratory, which lacks this ward, and as well additional surgical consultations, X- rays or ultrasound examinations should be carried out there”. 

"Lack of space is one of the problems we are facing though we were relocated, but the work is organized and services can be performed, except those emergency ones, which can not be treated due to lack of therapy. We also possess nine beds for intravenous daily treatment therapy,”
