Vushtrri- Ademi family of 8 members from Vushtrri lives in a single room in the building of the former city Health House.

This very cold winter found this family homeless and in extremely poor economic conditions. This family has been living for 7 years in this hundreds of year old public building.  The facility is almost completely destroyed and unused for years on. However it is the only housing to some family.   This family has no home or own property; this family comes from the village Dumnicė, municipality of Vushtrri. Alltėne Hyseni, the housekeeper, told us about the grave economic conditions during our stay with this family.

She said that her family of 8 has been living for seven years in this facility and according to her this was the only way to provide housing to her 6 children.  "We have not got our own house, and therefore we were forced to house here in order not to remain in the street, although it is difficult to live here because this facility is going to fall to pieces," she said.

She also said that this winter has brought many difficulties because the snow penetrates through the wall cracks into the single room where she and her husband live with their 6 children.  According to Alltene, her husband’s salary of 140 euros is insufficient for living because   it is not on regular-base salary. At the same time she thanks her relatives who are the only ones who provide assistance with foods ands clothing. She says that besides her neighbors who regularly visit and help them, no one else has visited them in these difficult days for them. She also said that the municipality long time ago has promised them a housing solution but except promises nothing was undertaken.  Except this family, there are 3 more families living in this facility.
