Nikolic: Prime Minister will lead the dialogue with Pristina
Brussels - President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic conveyed to the Head of European diplomacy, Catherin Ashton, considers that Belgrade team in future dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina should lead the new Serbian Prime Minister.
"I conveyed to Mrs. Ashton, my idea that President of the Serbian government from now leads negotiations, agreements, discussions, because there are left a few things about what we should reach agreements, but very important ones", said Serbian President. He did not say what kind of attitude had Ashton about this.
According to Nikolic's words, what has been agreed in dialogue is often interpreted differently in Belgrade, Pristina and Brussels, so he asked Ashton to finally be introduced with the implementation of agreements. "When government officials talk, they do not have any responsibility and interpret the agreements in different ways from their interlocutors", explained.
In statement to reporters after the meeting with the head of European diplomacy, which according to his words took longer than planned, Nikolic said that he thinks that on his frank discussion convinced her that for Serbia there is no better future than European Union. According to his opinion, talk with Ashton was "very useful and successful".
When it comes to Kosovo, Nikolic said that it was agreed intensive cooperation in order to ensure peace and security for all citizens, especially in the north.
"We need to prevent unilateral actions from either side which would endanger the peace and security", said Nikolic.
The President finished the addressing to the reporters with words that Serbia shall never recognize Kosovo, transmits Tanjug.
