European Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule stated yesterday in Belgrade that European Union is encouraging Serbia to continue the reforms on its path to EU and the key priority, "is visible and sustainable progress in relations with Kosovo".

Fule who is first senior EU official, who spoke with President of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolic from his election on that function, he told reporters that there is "clarity, transparency and predictability of what is expected from Serbia for the beginning of the negotiations".

"The key priority is visible and sustainable progress in relations with Kosovo", said Fule and added that there are five well-known points in relations between Belgrade and Pristina on which EU insists.
"There are no couriers which will make additional secret conditions“, said Fule.

He noted that the conditions for Serbia are "clearly defined", but on the question whether among the conditions is the elimination of “parallel institutions" in northern Kosovo, he said that: "Some of those conditions are related with the parallel institutions".

Nikolic said that he never before heard from anyone from the EU that the recognition of Kosovo is a condition for Serbia's accession to the EU, pointing out that Serbia should be in the EU and that understands the majority of its citizens.

Serbian President said that he talked with Fule  about what was done so far on the road towards EU, about why  slowed down that process, and what accelerated it, as well as the ways for further continuation of the dialogue with Pristina.

"We talked about the negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina, which should put us in a position to solve that problem. We did not talked about the status, but about that how to provide for all citizens of Kosovo peace and security in current situation and then the economic recovery and prosperity at the same time with negotiations to resolve that issue in a way that would be acceptable to the parties to which are negotiating", said Nikolic.

He said that "Serbia has the honor" that the EU delegation on the occasion of its reception of his duty entering, lead by "proven friend of Serbia, Stefan Fule". The European Commissioner said that he appreciates that Nikolic on his first visit will go to hte EU headquarters, transmits Kim radio.
