Mitrovicė - Following the resignation of Ferat Shala, the manager of the enterprise "Trepca", who led Trepca for nearly 3 years, the acting manager of this enterprise, by the appointment of KPA, by was named Eset Ujkani .

The miners showed their discontent opposing his appointment by protesting. Eset Ujkani in his letter wrote that he was disappointed by all this, saying he had no ambition to be the manager of Trepca. Miners of Stan Terg went on strike demanding the KPA to appoint on of the three proposed names (Halil Qela, Beqir Maliqi or Miftar Hyseni ) who are familiar with the work in Trepca,.

On the third day of the miners' strike KPA issued a decision dismissing Eset Ujkani and appointing Halil Qela for acting manager.
M-Magazine did an interview with the Acting Manager of Enterprise Trepca, Halil Qela, where among other things, he said: "I accepted this task, for which I am aware that is not easy one, but I accepted it for the sake of maintaining stability in the enterprise, " Halil Qela told  M-Magazine.

However Halil Qela highly assesses the performance of the manager Shala, and what he achieved during his management. "He has done a great job as long as he stood at the top of Trepca management.  Thanks to his work and the management team he led, but as well all employees of this company, we have a stable situation in all sectors of the enterprise, " Qela said.

But, if it is expected that very soon Trepca can solve legal problems Qela explains that the KPA, under its legal power, is obligated to solve problems Trepca is facing with and it could be done after the constitution of the KPA Board.

"In September of this year is expected the establishment of the Board of this agency and we hope that the focus of their work would be the issue of Trepca, giving their strong support in the way of its genuine restructuring " he said.

What will happen next regarding the advancement of "Trepca", Qela thinks that the public-private partnership is the most suitable for the restructuring of "Trepca". "During these three-four years, I've been part of a team to develop the Strategy for Trepca Enterprise restructuring but also the Mining Sector Strategy for Kosovo.

In these documents, the Trepca management team, in which I was part of it, had the opinion that the public-private partnership is the most appropriate to restructure the Trepca.  This means that the Kosovo government should keep about half of the stock, thus being the owner of this company, with great mineral resources, but with the private sector involved, whether local or international, with fresh capital investment.” Qela said.
