Police officers attacked, the perpetrator arrested
Mitrovica - One suspect, 22 year old is put under control and arrested for endangering police officers while performing official duties, as the same in the escape attempt had attempted to hit with his car two traffic police officers.
The incident is reported to have occurred around 15:00h, on the Mitrovica – Pristina highway, respectively at the Kqiq village of Mitrovica.
Regional traffic unit police officers, having received prior information on identification of the suspect vehicle, type "Golf 3", black color, which few days ago had avoided stopping at police checkpoint, the former have tried to stop him at the checkpoint set at the village of Kqiq..
The car driver, having noted the position of police for traffic stops, has increased the vehicle speed running toward the two police officers who in order to avoid the immediate risk to their lives, had to jump aside and used their official fire arm.
One of the bullets fired by police officers hit the front of the right wing of the suspect vehicle, but the driver was not hurt. The same has continued to rapidly escape and the police officers were forced to alarm other police units and gave chase to fugitive..
The suspect was located a few hundred meters from the scene, abandoning the car and attempted to flee on foot. The same is put under the control of police officers despite physical resistance of the suspect to arrest.
Two police officers suffered injuries in the right hand when avoiding a hit by a car. They were treated in Mitrovica hospital.
The suspect is arrested, though known to the police authorities for his involvement in the smuggling of goods, did not deny his intention not to stop and to avoid police patrol several times before.
Suspect vehicle, which in the front and in the rear had two different registration plates, was seized after it was certified that it was not cleared through customs.
By the order of the public prosecutor, the suspect (22), is set the measures of police detention to 48 hours, while the Regional serious crimes investigators are investigating the case recorded as a criminal offense "attempted murder”.
