Higher yield this year despite wheat disease

Vushtrri- It started a week ago and still continues the process of harvesting & threshing of an area of 3870 hectares of wheat throughout the Municipality of Vushtrri. On order to complete this process, the MAFRD engaged 58 combines.

According to Nasuf Aliu, the Director of Economy, Agriculture and Rural Development, "the campaign is running smoothly and the combine drivers are obeying the rules established by MAFRD".

Regarding the wheat yields, the director said it varies depending on the location of planted surfaces. ”In areas of plain land planted with wheat, the yield is about 5000 kg per ha, while in other plains is about 4000 kg per ha.

Judging by these figures, farmers of Municipality of Vushtrri have produced 17.415 tons of wheat or approximately over 10 thousand tons of flour, and proportionally with 70 thousand inhabitants it gets to be over the average of consumption.

Municipal officials said that despite illness, "the wheat fly ', which has affected most of the surfaces with wheat, this year the productivity compared to previous years is bit higher, which means this disease did not have much affect.
