Republic of Serbia should accept the new reality of Kosovo and that the integration of the Serbian state in the European Union continues to depend on the improvement of neighborly relations with Kosovo.

This is the message of U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European affairs, Philip Gordon, delivered on Monday in Pristina, since he had previously delivered the same message to the president of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolic, in Belgrade.

US Assistant Secretary of State Gordon has made it clear to Serbia, through the President Nikolic, informing him that the U.S. will continue supporting the state of Kosovo, on which he has talked after the meeting he has with the president Atifete Jahjaga.

Gordon has expressed his belief that regardless who will create the new Serbian government, it will be committed to continuing talks with Kosovo in order to reach an agreements which, according to him, will help improve the living conditions of citizens in the both sides of the border.

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State, Philip Gordon, called on institutions to respect the opinion of the Constitutional Court according to which President Atifete Jahjaga will be able to exercise her post until 2016.
