Free movement continues to challenge the north
Mitrovica - Barricade at the Iber Bridge continues to create problems for the free movement of citizens; therefore the security structures must immediately act to remove it.
This request was brought in Monday by the authorities of Mitrovica municipality in Safety Committee meeting.
Deputy Mayor, Riza Haziri, said it could not be spoken anything about free movement and normal situation as long as on the road there is a single barrier. "Barricade on the Iber Bridge, except it creating a bad image; it is as well causing big problems for free movement of citizens in the north".
In this context, he mentioned the Albanian citizens of the northern neighbourhoods, like the Bosniak neighbourhood, Kodra e Minatoreve, and the area of "Three Towers", who are forced to use alternate routes. He also stressed such problems for Albanian villages of Leposavic municipality
Regarding the security situation, the Director for Protection and Rescue, Behxhet Bala, said last week has been quiet and there was not any incident that would be reflected in the overall security situation. He mentioned the Serbs protest against the opening of the Administrative Office in the North that ended without incident.
“Related to the office in the north, he said it has started functioning and has not had any problem. "Last week we held a joint meeting with our counterparts working in that office, in which is expressed a mutual willingness to cooperate.”
