Mitrovica - Nongovernmental organizations "Mundesia" in partnership with the organization "The Group of Roma women for Roma women" and "Women's Group July 2nd" in Friday have opened the handcraft fair and fashion runway the RAE community girls.
These activities supported by the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), are held in the premises of the Cultural Centre in Mitrovica.
Aferdita Tahiri from NGO "Mundesia" said that this event was organized on the occasion of successful completion of the Women's Center project in Roma neighborhood, which is supported by DRC which aimed the strengthening of human capacities within two NGOs, "Roma women for Roma women" and "Women's Group-July 2nd", to assist the development of sustainable of NGOs from RAE community.
"Also, the aim of the project was the training of women with different hand work skills to create incomes and the generation of new jobs as well as starting businesses, which would help them in reintegration" emphasized Tahiri.
According to her, during the ten-month period, in the project activities are included around 500 RAE community members, from which 21 women have benefited directly by being trained for tailors, knitting and embroidery, which subsequently have created clothing patterns which the girls showed during their fashion runway.
Several products were exposes from other representatives of other communities and they aroused the interest of the visitors, especially the ones of RAE community.
